((hehe...she was already there before him...but it's cool. ^_^ ))
Talau nodded to Holt with a smile.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]Good...that's one....with a sword I am guessing....Holt you may sit.[/glow]
She said, waiting for the others responces.

Holt sat, looks from others hinting that standing was not an acceptable way to acknowledge a question such as that. He was somewhat upset. He had been expecting some sort of a test of swordsmanship. But, upon any real thought on the subject, Holt realised that such an expectation wasn't in order and that Master Firians was probably just stalling for time until the other, probably senior Master arrived.

Talau gave the others a slightly more stern look.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]Holt...you were right in answering the way that you did. It is perfectly acceptable....and it is a good example for the others here to learn from you.
This is a lesson you must learn well, and learn swiftly....all cultures are different and have different ways of reacting to situations. If you put them down in any way, or act in such a way as they might feel uncomfortable you are less likely to gain a possible ally, friend, or even gain the upper hand in a negotiation that could become dangerous.
At all times you must be polite, and learn from other cultures....do not become so stuck in your ways that you are unwilling, or unable, to learn from others. It might save your life one day.[/glow]

Holt had not been treated in such a way ever before in his life. On Nelvaan, young trainees were taught to earn respect, and here it was encouraged. Master Firians' actions would have made Holt blush with embarassment, that is, if Nelvaanians blushed. Instead, he gave a gruff sound between a purr and a whine, though it was quiet enough that none should have heard. He turned his attention back to Master Firians. Every second he spent here only made him want to begin sooner.

((okay, so I know Sabre only started with me....and I dont think Va'al has had any, and i think Cassus started with Chris, so I'll just begin the training....i'm bored and only have a few min left online.))
After hearing their answers Talau nodded.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]It seems we're all basically in the same place then.....the beginning....alright....everyone up on your feet then, but don't bother with your sabers yet...right now we are only going to work on footwork.[/glow]

The Nelvaan boy did not have to be told twice. He was up and on his feet before Master Firians finished speaking. Holt shifted his weight onto the balls of his feet and swayed back and forth. He was more than ready to begin.

((If I may, before Talau is going to begin training))
Cassus listened to Talau's words carefully and patiently. Respect other cultures and gain an ally... a friend. He'd never had friends before, he'd never made any on Yavin IV in the whole 10 years he was there. He thought carefully for a moment, then stood up as Holt had done, with a friendly smile in Holt's direction. "I am already trained in Shii-Cho... Form one, master, but I've only used a training lightsaber before. For the last few hours I've been practicing with Purity though." He looked down at his lightsaber which was now laying on the ground at his feet. Maybe he should have something added to it to attach to his belt. But for now, he sat back down now that he'd answered her question.
After waiting for a few more moments Master Talau told them to rise, and he did so, watching curiously as Holt was the first one up, ready to begin. He admired that. Cassus wondered if he was the only Padawan who'd recieved any training so far, in a long term way.

Holt glanced over at Cassus. His actions showed respect. But it was not the sort that he expected, the kind that would have been forced by Master Firians. This was genuine. Something Holt had done had earned himself some respect from his fellow student. No, not student. Padawan. He had since learned that. Though he could not exactly determine how. He grinned. These Jedi had such strange names for things. But, regardless of the Jedi name for it. Training, fighting, and respect were the same either way. Who knew, perhaps respect would turn to friendship?

Cole stands up carefully seeing that two are up, watching not to bang anyone. Cole stood up with a straight back and his small wide apart eyes searched the room laying upon the two padawans for some time and he recognised something. This was a Nelvaan boy he was training with, infact this is only the 2nd time he had seen one. The Vurk started to crouch a little looking a bit more relaxed, he had heard that you must relax, he didn't know where but he heard it. Cole heard what Master Firians' said, "Respect other cultures..." that was easy, Cole already did, it was the way of his people, they are a quite, peacefull species. "If you put them down in any way, or act in such a way as they might feel uncomfortable you are less likely to gain a possible ally, friend." The vurk saw that theese two were among the first to stand, obeying what Master Firians said, he respected these two. Cole awaited the training.

Silently Chris entered the room. He did not want to disturb Talau's lesson and he did not want to break the student's concentration. Not yet at least. A large smile grew over his face. The Force was strong here and the Padawans were beginning to make the air tingle with a collective Force energy. Already he began to see bonds form between the students. This was embodied in the form of Cassus and Holt.
Cassus had already gained a deal of prestige with the Jedi master, he was beginning to grow fond of the student. He could tell that the boy had his troubles, but he was willing to push them aside in order to grow stronger in the Force. Respectable. But duly noted was Holt, he had left everything he knew for the Jedi. he had sought them out over any other in order for him to control his own being. That was truly a statement of honor. Sacrifice for others.
And then there was Cole. He had not seen the boy yet, nor had he glanced over his papers, but none the less he could tell he was ready to learn. The boy was reflective in all sense of the word. He caught the deeper message of a single sentence. Cole would learn much from shorter lessons. And then he caught Sabre. The girl seemed to be fighting a haze at sometimes but at others she was a beacon of light in the Force. That was stunning at such a tender age. Through the Force he was able to catch the bond she was forming to the Force and the other Jedi, more specifically Talau.
All of his students were making progress whether or not they had received their first lesson. As the lesson began, he felt the students pour themselves into the Force and the Force thrummed through the room. It was at this moment the Master exerted himself into he Force. He would not only watch the lesson with his eyes but he would also mounter the Force. Each time a student called on the Force Chris would take it to note. He wanted all of his students to learn to fall completely into he depths of the Force. Judging by how they reacted in Lightsaber combat, he would know what kind of one-on-one lesson they would require.

Holt knew that the other Master had entered the room. But it was not The Force that told him. It was the world. He smelled another odor entering, heard the footsteps, as quiet as they may be, and felt it in the wind, however little of it there was. He had been trained back on Nelvaan that the environment is your hunting ground, and if you understand your hunting ground, you succeed in the hunt. This came easily for the overly-sensitive Nelvaanians. They had superior eyesight, smell, hearing, even the hairs on their bodies had nerve endings.
This environment sensing had been mastered by Holt, along with nearly all other Nevaanians. It was a part of their culture. But at times, when clearing his mind to sense the world around him, Holt was unable to. Something was always present. Something always had been. He knew now that this burden that had cuased him so many failures was The Force. And though he was ready and willing to learn, Holt had misunderstood Master Firians. He thought the Jedi could control and dismiss The Force at will. Perhaps it was in Master Firians' wordind. Or perhaps it was this dismissal of The Force that Holt had been trying to do all his life, and this notion was just wishful thinking...

Talau smiled inwardly as Cassus and Holt seemed to begin the journey to friendship...this was a good first step. She noted the reactions of the others in the room as one by one they stood. They were all eager to learn it seemed...this was very good....and they all had the beginnings of a strong connection to the force. As Chris came into the room, she didn't turn to greet him, but instead sent a small wave of welcoming recognition to him through the force before returning her full attention to the younglings infront of her.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]Good...now the first basic step you must learn is hopefully obvious to you....the foreward step.[/glow]
She said with a lightly joking tone, keeping the mood light. She had found that if one learned in a serious, but light atmosphere one was more willing, and therefore able, to learn.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]Alright...
To start you will put the same foot as your dominant hand infront, and your other just slightly behind...like so.[/glow]
She said, showing them the propper way to stand.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]I am, by all means, right handed...so...my right foot is infront, the left foot behind.
Next you will step forward....then bring your back foot up to meet the front one.[/glow]
She said, showing them as she explained.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]Now....you try.[/glow]
She said, motioning to them, and smiling.

Cassus listened carefully then mimicked her stance, being right handed as well. With that he took a step with his right foot, and slid his left up to meet his right. Satisfied he'd done it right, he smiled in Talau's direction, then looked around to watch the other students complete the action. He'd already learned this as a youngling, but it couldn't hurt to revise with the other Padawans.

Holt Syren was, like all Nelvaanians, ambidextrous. It was a helpful little evolutionary trait granted to them after years of hunting. But, Nelvaanians had taken this into consdieration during their training. In nelvaanian training, one always assumed that the teacher was as if an attacker, and acted accordingly. And so, Holt stepped forward on his left foot and mimicked the stance perfectly. He had found that this favored his left side as well as causing his opponenet to have to block any strike from the right with their left. And so Master Firians, being right-handed, would have more trouble, however miniscule, defending on her left. An advantage for Holt. But this was no fight, it was a simple lesson. Holt awaited further instruction...

She nodded approvingly as they younglings followed her instructions beautifully, and with little trouble.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]Good....you will most often use this step, though as you progress it will change slightly.
Now....the more difficult of the basic steps is the backwards.
You must do the exact opposite of what you just did...stepping back onto the ball of your back foot, then bringing your front foot to meet it.
The trick here is to keep your weight balanced evenly so that it will be more difficult for you to fall, or knocked over.[/glow]
She explained, showing them the step, her movement graceful with years of practice and use. This particular step had caused her many problems when she was first learning, as she at first had a tendency to not ballance herself propperly, causing her to either fall over, trip on the next step, or any number of other embarassing accidents.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]Your balance on this step can be the differnce between losing a spar or winning it. Your enemy may choose to try to knock you over, or push you back swiftly, or come at you from behind...and if you are not ballanced correctly you will have a difficult time with your next step, or may even trip over yourself and fall.[/glow]
She explained.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]You try now.[/glow]

Cub's play. Holt was able to shift his weight evenly in the blink of an eye. His feet, keepign with his center of gravity, never left the floor. They simply slid along it. Another skill taught to him years ago. Footing can only be lost if the feet leave the ground. Holt looked around. He would have been bored out of his mind, had he not Master Firians to watch. He saw her take the steps, that was certain. but he also saw, hidden amongst them, a certain graceful, yet powerful manner of shifting weight and following through. This was probably easier still for the Jedi Master.

She smiled and nodded to Holt in acknowledgement. He was very good, and certainly this must be boing him to absolute tears! She chuckled to herself at the thought, and turned her attention to the others, walking easily over to one of them and correcting their posture when she had an idea.
There were to many for her eyes to be on all at once, and she knew some of them needed help, so after correcting the youngling, she walked over to Holt, looking down at him.
[glow=9999ff,2,300]Holt, will you help me to correct some of them? If you see one that needs help go and correct them...it is most likely a ballance problem.[/glow]
She said quietly to him.

- Va'al would nod at Talau's every word, smiling at the mention of friends. Va'als best friend was his master Bal'as, until he was slain that is. The young draethos merely shook his head at the mention of saber training, having used his time as a padawan to wisely follow the way of Soresu. In terms of calling upon the force Va'al would follow the Jedi Masters instructions simply unpon instinct, letting the force guide his movments as he strained to keep his mind off of Holt. He looked over at the selkath and then back twoards Talau. He would redouble his efforts now performing the balance excercise expertly, yet afterwards he would glance over at Holt and smirk as if to say "Top that one." -

Cassus watched Talau show the movement, she was far better at it then he was. He remembered trying this movement over and over again, always tripping over his own foot, and falling and landing on his behind. Unconsciously he rubbed his hip with his hand, remembering the pain.
He still wasn't that good at it. Cautiously he stepped his left foot back, then brought his right foot back, without failure. He smiled happily that he hadn't made a fool of himself, but made a mental note that when he had time alone in his quarters to practice this simple yet essential step.
