Played for ~ 3 years
Latus Itani
Race: Rilian
Age: 43
Height: 5'11''
Weight: 185
Appearance: Longish brown hair, multi-colored eyes (common among Rilian), slight stubble. Without force masking, his left hand is easily identified as a cybernetic prosthetic limb. The limb itself is special, it is modified to act as a holster for his lightsabre, making it all the more simple to conceal. The garb has changed more than face over the last 20 years albeit age's tole. Instead of a long overcoat, Latus is now only ever seen in slacks, boots, white shirt, leather vest, and roadie hat. His pistols are stowed in force concealed flaps in the vest.
Birth place: Unknown
Faction: Feanturi
Rank: Knight Exile
Bio: Little is actually known about the history of the smuggler turned jedi. If asked Latus would most likely say he didn't want to talk about it or change the subject. However, the truth lies in what little family he has left...
Born of Rilian parents, Latus was put into hiding for fear of immediate death due to the Morequi ruling Rilia. As the last of the royal knights, he would almost certainly spell a return of the Countess and a lasting peace upon Rilia. However, his parents were killed and he was lost from the eyes of history as any kind of prominent figure; he was separated from his only family member, his sister, Talau.
Found within an escape pod in the outer rim by the Itani's, a semi-prominent family residing on Corellia, they decided to raise them as a human (the only way they knew). With that Latus Itani started his new life. Standard schooling did little for the boy. His classes didn't come easy, he enjoyed his privacy and never made any good friends. The only person he could talk to at length was his 'brother' Abbott Itani, the true child of his parents. They got along relatively well until Abbott was discovered to have the makings of a jedi.
After that Latus lost almost all contact with his brother and friend, falling into a pit of depression. He found his niche working on droids and ships, helping his father around the garage whenever he could. This also revealed to the boy that he loved the thrill of speed and started racing the traffic lanes in air-speeders at the age of 14. Obviously, his parents didn't enjoy this new thrill seeker attitude their son enjoyed. They sent him to the Coruscant Naval Academy to get his mind off of the dangerous sport. In the Academy he learned to pilot space fighters and, at the age of 16 was drafted into the Planetary Defense Corps.
Latus never enjoyed the military, far too restrictive. At 18 he won a ship off of a naval officer in a game of Death Dice. With that, Latus Itani cast off the shackles of politics and set off to make his own way in the galaxy as a smuggler. Soon he was one of the best; his best run was Kessel. He almost beat an old record of 12 parsecs for one run before pirates from the Smuggler's Moon, a converted military base over Kessel, attacked him. He managed to get away by flying dangerously close to the black holes that made up the Maw, sucking in his pursuers and providing him with experience he would use years later.
Several years down the road, after 'acquiring' and delivering a heavy neutron warhead, he was reunited, unknowingly, with his sister Talau who was looking to hire a smuggler. He took her on as a job and helped smuggle jedi younglings halfway across the galaxy, first to Yavin 4; they were attacked and Latus lost his left hand, now replaced with a prosthetic; then to a Space Station in wild space hoping to find the lost planet of Zonoma Sekot. While there, they were attacked by Dark Jedi and Latus was reunited with his brother Abbott. It was there that both Latus and Talau discovered that they were long lost brother and sister. To escape, Latus detonated the Space Station and the secret of Zonoma Sekot with it. Unknown to him, Abbott was killed on that station by the Dark Jedi as he bought time for Latus and co. to get away.
After that Latus began formal, if not a bit unorthodox, training as a Jedi with Master Roth. He trained alongside Jenno with who he became fast friends. Not long after, Coruscant was attacked and the Jedi were forced to flee. He fled with Talau to Kashyyk where they hid with the Jedi. Upon Kashyyk, Latus fell prey to the Dark Side which caused him to attack Sanariel Blueskies. Unwilling to face his sister, he fled to the heart of the Maw, Backwater Station. He had left clue for Talau to find him there and, eventually she did. Backwater became the new hiding place for the younglings.
Not long after he was witness to the birth of Talau's two children, Daeron and Daawn, on Rilia. About a year after that Latus disappeared. He had cut himself from the force to hide from a gang of bandits led by the now dismissed Naval Officer who's ship he had won. He crashed on Cerea where he made a new name and life for himself. Aiden Veltan was his new alias and there he stayed for several years until he bought a new ship and escaped the eye of the ex-officer.
En-route to Rilia he made an unscheduled stop on Centerpoint Station, the massive space station at the center of the gravity of the twin planets Talus and Tralus. While there he witnessed an event unexplainable by even his knowledge of the universe. He would have died if it wasn't for the dormant force in his mind. 'The Event', as Latus now calls it, gave him unfathomable force sensitivity and the ability to bend it at will. After Centerpoint he made for Rilia and contacted Talau. She was spearheading an effort to cleanse their home planet of the warlords which had oppressed them far too long. His new abilities proved useful in the battle.
After the Battle Latus disappeared again, this time to evade the Regency's change to an Empire and the death of the Jedi by the multitude. He drew all of the force in upon himself and sealed it within his mind, not hoping to draw any attention. As an extra precaution Latus was hired by the Corellian Shipping Firm (CSF) and started another new life retaining his last alias, Aiden Veltan.
Now, once again, Latus has emerged from hiding to help the Jedi in their time of need.
